Perry County, Pennsylvania is a rural county in the south-central part of the Commonwealth, with its county seat in New Bloomfield. The county’s court system produces a substantial body of official records across its Court of Common Pleas, Orphans’ Court, and Magisterial District Courts. These documents — ranging from criminal charges and felony proceedings to civil filings, estate inventories, and family law orders — capture the formal resolution of legal matters affecting county residents and serve as the authoritative record of the local judiciary.
Locating court records in Pennsylvania requires knowing which office or system holds the specific type of record being sought. Official court resources, clerk offices, and public access tools are all available to record seekers. PennsylvaniaCourts.us can help users find publicly available court case information and understand how Pennsylvania’s unified court system is organized at the county level, including which courts and clerks handle which record types.
How to Look Up a Court Case in Perry County?
Searching for Perry County court records generally begins with identifying which court handled the case. The primary online resource for searching case information across Pennsylvania’s court system is the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System (UJS) Web Portal, which allows searches by participant name, case number, offense tracking number, police incident number, or state ID number. The portal covers appellate, criminal, and civil cases statewide, including those filed in Perry County.
For civil records specifically, the Perry County Civil Judgments search tool provides access to civil judgment dockets maintained by the Clerk of Courts. Criminal and civil docket sheets can also be searched and printed through the UJS Docket Sheets portal.

Are Court Records Public in Perry County?
Under the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law (RTKL), records generated or maintained by government agencies — including court records — are generally presumed to be public. Any person may submit a request to inspect or obtain copies of most Perry County court documents without having to state a reason for the request.
However, the RTKL and Pennsylvania court rules carve out a number of categories that are either restricted or entirely sealed from public view:
- Juvenile records — proceedings involving minors are confidential under Pennsylvania law and not accessible to the general public
- Expunged and sealed records — once a court orders expungement or sealing, those records are removed from public access
- Medical records — health-related information contained in court files is protected
- Adoption records — the Clerk of the Orphans’ Court notes that adoption proceedings are sealed and can only be accessed by court order
- Certain victim and witness information — details that could jeopardize personal safety are withheld
- Active investigative materials — law enforcement records related to ongoing investigations may be exempt
For records that are publicly accessible, clerks apply standard redaction to remove sensitive personal identifiers before providing copies. The Pennsylvania Office of Open Records provides additional guidance on the RTKL’s exemptions and how to appeal a denial of access.
